GREAT AGAIN #3 (white house with hairless cats) 2024
Oil & Cat Hair on Canvas (18” x 36”)
As it is their practice, the resident clutter of hairless felines faithfully gathers at the wall to witness the last light of the sabbath as it dwindles from dusk to darkness. Most relax, finding comfort where they can, while a few chosen for their size and bravery remain vigilant.
Though, for countless generations, this holy day has been observed by all, they don’t forget the enemy is near. It would be most foolish to blindly trust in the piety of the others with so many little ones to tend. Though from their earliest lessons, all know to never venture far past the wall.
Across the waters of the Chubby Guardian, the once stately manor at the center of the square is the only structure known to be older than the wall that delineates the respective territories. Because the house was long known to be particularly haunted, it was generally left untouched during the great decline, before all of the gods left for good.
As the last remaining feline species in the felidae family, they are well content to follow these old ways and keep their distance, as the residual radiation over time has genetically robbed them of their once insatiable sense of curiosity.
